Nov 15, 2020 @00:06:24 EST
Please note all astrological placements, transits, and alignments are based on Sidereal Lahiri calculations.
Overview
At this time of year, the new moon usually occurs in the astrological sign of Scorpio. But two new moons occurred in the sign of Virgo this year, so the upcoming new moon happens in the sign of Libra. However, this new moon isn’t any less all-consuming. During this lunar cycle we will connect to the spirit of obsession and use the scales of Libra to start restoring balance to aspects in our world that have swung to an extreme.
On the morning of November 15th, the new moon occurs less than one degree before the sign of Scorpio in Visakha Nakshatra. This Nakshatra is a confluence of emotional water and flighty air. Creating obsession: decisive focus and an unwavering dedication to reach a target. This cosmic condition makes the days surrounding the new moon a great time to revisit your purpose and renew goals. Visakha Nakshatra is all about crossing the finish line.
Similar to the energetic force depicted in the I Ching hexagram 59, Huan, the overarching cosmic condition of this 30-day Libra lunar cycle is wind over water: dispersion. In the sign of Libra, the planet of limitation, Saturn is exalted. And the almighty Sun us debilitated. The dispersive force (i.e. isolation and separation) found in this part of Libra forces us to start to notice that the days are getting shorter and time seems to be running out. Here we just begin to awaken to our deepest fears because no matter how hard we work, how intelligent or powerful we become we can’t conquer time.
If we are wise, Visakha Nakshatra is also where we choose to acknowledge that taking time to admire the garden of life is also part of being in service of its cultivation. We start to understand that to not only achieve, but to also maintain life itself, we must enjoy living equally as hard as we work. Over the next 30-days, the scales of Libra urge us to use the force of obsession to bring the necessary balance in our lives.
Don’t be surprised if a feeling of obsession intensely grows as November progresses. The Scorpion influence on this lunar cycle will become stronger as we approach the lunar eclipse on November 30th. More on this then. In the meantime, don’t get lost in the struggle. Set some goals. Make some time for rest, play, and gratitude. Enjoy the fruit of the harvest. Restore hope, joy, and love to your life. That’s the only way you will be able to continue to serve, create, and help our new world grow into a flower for the future. A future for all.
Sun and Moon Enter Scorpio
Immediately following the new moon through November 16th the sun and moon accompany each other into Scorpio. Causing any emotion stirred around the new moon to send us to our depths. The moon is debilitated in Scorpio. And its immediate transit of Scorpio following rebirth may release fears. Avoid spinning into doubt and becoming impatient. Use the earth element to stay grounded and connected to your goal for balance. Nourish yourself with things that align with your core values. Because the Sun will be present to illuminate any darkness in the moon’s path, you may find these remedies are easier to implement than at other times the moon transits Scorpio. Please be aware that the sun will also illuminate psychological blind spots at this time as well. So emerging fears maybe difficult to understand.
Venus Enters Libra
Rejoice! On November 17th Venus sweetens the deal the cosmos has dealt us this lunar cycle. Venus moves from, Virgo, its sign of debilitation into its own sign of Libra. The ruler of relationships, beauty, and pleasure transitions from being overwhelmed by the details of service in Virgo to reunite with the sweetness and ease of balance. A balance of personal pleasure and sacrifice for others. If you don’t feel immediate ease and sweetness during this week not to worry. Keep your focus on restoring balance in your life by incorporating regular time for rest, play, and gratitude. Add sensorial pleasures to your life in moderation, but indulge. Venus will be here to assist us with reclaiming sweetness and ease in all our relationships until December 10th.
Jupiter Re-enters Capricorn
On November 20th Jupiter will re-enter Capricorn and officially begin the reformation of the Capricorn Satellitium. Capricorn has been the site of much of the upheaval in 2020. Jupiter’s re-entry into Capricorn will be a blow to our sense of hope. You may have started feeling this as early as late October as Jupiter traveled closer and closer to Capricorn. Jupiter is debilitated in the slow earth of Capricorn. The exhilaration, rush, and sense of expansion received from a vision, inspiration or revelation about the mysteries of the universe is dimmed by the limitation and pressure of time in Capricorn.
When Jupiter re-enters Capricorn it will conjunct Saturn. Saturn is the ruler of Capricorn. And Saturn’s presence will heighten the Capricorn demand that we manifest something more permanent than an idea from our hopes and beliefs. Inspiration, hope, and beliefs are some of the things Jupiter excels at teaching. In fact, a vision of a thing precedes its physical manifestation, but it’s hard to be inspired by a vision when there’s so much pressure to perform.
We had a taste of this as well as the power of the Capricorn Satellitium this spring. This may not sound benefic, but rest assured the universe is wise and loving. The coming cosmic energy is exactly what we need as we strive for ways to cure the many social, environmental, health, and other pandemics plaguing the planet.
The United States will remain at the center of this global struggle. And if we, as a species, is to survive the coming cosmic energetic shifts we must renew our identities in accordance and learn to embody what it really means to be human. Jupiter, the great guru, is to remain in the sign of Capricorn until April 2021. Glad this new moon bringing a blast of obsession to help us cross the finish line!
Happy Diwali!
