July 2021 | New Moon - Practice Makes Perfect
New Moon - July 9, 2021 @21:17 EDT
All planetary placements are based on the Sidereal Zodiac with whole sign house system and uses Lahiri Ayanamsha.
Since the June 10th solar eclipse, you may have made a subtle or grand life change. And by late June you might have started to notice that this change, like all change, does not come without complications. These complications may have delivered a rude awakening – particularly if they appeared around the last super full moon eclipse on June 24th.
What appeared as the moon was eclipsed and reached fullness last month were clues to what’s karmically blocking our individual progression in life; and tomorrow’s new moon in Mithuna (sidereal Gemini) is perfectly positioned to help us begin working through these obstructions. This new moon grants us the power to practice teachings that can awaken our consciousness and move us closer to our destiny. It is a good time try something new, test out a new way of being, and break pesky old habits.
When the sun and moon meet in this part of the Zodiac we are encouraged to search for our true identity through curiosity and experimentation. With Mercury conjunct this new moon in its own sign of Gemini the cosmic energy for this lunar cycle becomes very practical and logical. Quite simply, “practice makes perfect,” making the 24hrs before or after this new moon an ideal time to develop a practical plan to put into practice.
If your natal Mercury is weak or afflicted, then the practical and logical nature of this new moon can reignite negative self-talk or doubt from over analyzation or miscommunication. If these arise take time to reflect on how your current state is related to the obstructions and complications that showed up around the last full moon. What lessons is the universe trying to reveal? What wisdom can you put into practice to dissolve these impediments?
Although the upcoming new moon will inspire us to continue along our quest by working through the roadblocks in our path, this month we may find it challenging to remain committed to our plan. When the moon transits Mars conjunct Venus in Sidereal Cancer the day after the upcoming new moon we will immediately be tempted to entwine with the external world, and we may get lost in social engagement to try and quench our spiritual thirst.
The current Venus and Mars conjunction is creating a tremendous amount of strong passion and yearning for creative pleasure, leading to all sorts of juicy distractions. And sometimes our spirits need a bit of feel-good release. This energy will support all forms of creativity, beauty, and zeal. So, indulge! However, don’t let the sensual vapors become an impediment. Stay connected to your internal quest for what is within, if you can. Channel the intensity of the desire for sensory gratification into making moves to stick with your practice plan.
For the next 29.5 days (one lunar cycle) the actual use or the application of our teachings and beliefs will be highly favored. We can’t reach our destiny by simply thinking, hoping, or believing. We must act. During this lunar cycle we are asked to put our truth into action because practice is the magic of becoming who we are destined to be. And if we are capable of starting to ‘walk the talk’ aligned with our spiritual awakening before the moon transits Ketu on July 21st then the second half of this lunar cycle will progress more smoothly as the moon transits some sensitive points around the next full moon.
More details on what in store the second half of this lunar cycle will be posted right before the next full moon. Until then remember, “Practice makes perfect. After a long time of practicing our work will become natural, skillful, swift, and steady.” - Bruce Lee
